Description:
The department specializes in preoperative and postoperative care. The unit has a capacity of 25 beds. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3. Common cases include orthopedic, bariatric, general surgery, urology, hand and foot procedures, spine surgeries, gynecological procedures, and sports medicine. Nurses prepare patients for catheter lab, interventional radiology, transesophageal echocardiogram, and radiology procedures. Call is required approximately every 5-6 weekends, with additional holiday call obligations.
A mixture of 8, 10, and 12-hour shifts is available. Management schedules shifts 6 weeks in advance. A charge nurse is available on each shift, who may also take patient assignments. The position adheres to strict policies regarding artificial nails and requires a 90% passing score on applicable exams during orientation. Removal of artificial nails is mandatory for patient care compliance.
Time-off requests are limited to 7 or fewer days upfront during the assignment. The hospital retains the right to cancel shifts as specified.
