American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Med-Surg/Oncology position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring at least 1 year of oncology and PCU experience with night shift availability.
Details- Mixed PCU, Med-Surg, and Oncology unit in an acute care hospital setting at a Level I Trauma Center
- 28-bed unit serving adult oncology and trauma patient populations
- PCU nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 on days and 1:5-6 on nights;
Med-Surg ratio of 1:5 - 12-hour night shifts (7p–7a)
- Every other weekend required
- Self-scheduling unit
- Floating required to same level of care (Med-Surg and PCU units)
- Common drips include chemotherapy, heparin, cardizem, and protonix; RNs may titrate insulin and cardizem
- Competencies in ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, A-line, Swan, EV-1000) are relevant; real-time training available
- IV pumps used:
Alaris - EMR:
Epic (recent Epic experience within 6 months is noted for orientation planning, but not required)
- Active NE state RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license, must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses not accepted
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA); ONS/ONCC certification required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience in oncology and PCU settings
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; a valid driver's license is required to verify permanent address
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Driver's license required for consideration
- Chemotherapy certification is preferred but not required
- RNs will take a pass/fail, open-book skills exam during orientation and must score at least 90% to pass
- Orientation is approximately 2 days (12 hours)
- Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply will result to contract termination

Navy Blue - Unit support includes nursing assistants, charge nurses, PT/OT, RN case managers, social workers, educators, and dieticians
- RTO must be disclosed upfront; up to 7 days may be approved per 13-week contract — additional RTO will not be approved after submission
