Job Overview

Position:
Procedure Nurse – Laboratory Services, Methodist Physicians Clinic – West Dodge Medical Plaza, Omaha, NE.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 8am– 5pm.

• Deliver individualized patient care and perform pre‑procedure assessments, including vital signs, pain evaluation, and infection control protocols.
• Assist physicians with a range of procedures (colposcopy, LEEP, hysteroscopy, cystoscopy, IV therapy, suturing, biopsies, etc.) by preparing, monitoring, and documenting all steps.
• Maintain sterile technique, manage supplies and instruments, and ensure equipment is clean and ready for each case.
• Monitor patients intra‑operatively and post‑operatively for stability, pain, and infection; administer medications per physician orders.
• Communicate clearly with physicians, nurses, and allied health staff, and provide patient/family education about treatment and postoperative care.
• Document all assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic health record in a timely manner.
• Participate in quality improvement activities, risk reporting, and protocol development to enhance patient safety.
• Follow nursing protocols, state requirements, and the Nurse Practice Act; maintain competent knowledge of evidence‑based practices.
• Provide support during emergency situations, triage calls, and urgent patient needs.

• Education
  :
  Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Nursing from an accredited school.
• Experience
  : 3–5 years in a clinical nursing unit; preference for labor & delivery, surgical, or plastic surgery settings.
• License/Certification
  :
  Current RN license (or compact/multi‑state) and valid BLS within 3 months of hire. ACLS, PALS preferred.
• Skills & Knowledge
  :
  Strong interpersonal and critical‑thinking abilities, proficiency with hospital information systems, basic sterile technique, IV therapy, infection control, and emergency response.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently in a fast‑paced clinic environment.
• Computer skills:
  Microsoft Office, data entry, and chart audit reporting.

• Weight demands:
  Exert up to 50lb. Frequent activities: balancing, carrying, kneeling, lifting, typing.
• Hazards: occasional exposure to sharps, needles, and infectious materials; consistent adherence to infection control and safety protocols.
