This position is for a registered nurse in a fast-paced medical/surgical unit. The unit provides care to trauma patients with a focus on both acute and chronic needs. Ratios are 1:5 during the day shift and 1:6 during the night shift. Occasionally, night ratios may extend to 1:7. RNs must be prepared to float frequently to meet the staffing needs. Floating may include various units within the facility.
Care teams will include CNAs, care techs, transport teams, and paramedics. Nurses are responsible for administering required drips such as nitroglycerin, heparin, and insulin. Skills in blood product administration, central line care, chest tube management, and IV management are essential. There is a requirement to work 4 weekend shifts within an 8-week period. Travelers must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the winter season.
