Travel RN - Telemetry - Progressive Care Unit

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Med-Surg/Oncology position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring at least 1 year of PCU and oncology experience with ACLS and BLS certifications.

Requirements

• Active NE state or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Current BLS and ACLS (AHA) certifications required; pending certifications not accepted
• ONS/ONCC certification required
• Minimum 1 year of PCU and oncology nursing experience required
• Chemotherapy certification preferred but not required
• BSN not required
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (driver's license used to verify permanent address)
• Candidates may not have been directly employed full-time, part-time, or PRN by any Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year (candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered)
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Driver's license required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Mixed PCU, Med-Surg, and Oncology unit in an acute care hospital setting at a Level I Trauma Center
• 27–28 bed unit serving adult oncology and trauma patient populations
• Day shift RN-to-patient ratio is 1:4 (PCU) and 1:5 (Med-Surg); night shift ratio is 1:5–6
• Common drips and medications include chemotherapy, heparin, cardizem, and protonix; RNs are required to titrate insulin and cardizem occasionally
• 12-hour day shifts (7a–7p)
• Every other weekend required
• Self-scheduling
• Floating required to same level of care (Med-Surg and PCU units)
• EMR:
  Epic (recent Epic experience within 6 months is noted, though not a strict requirement)
• IV pumps:
  Alaris
• Specialty equipment includes Lyko lifts and other lift equipment
• Competencies in ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, A-line, Swan, EV-1000) are beneficial; on-the-job training available for these skills
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Orientation is 2 days; a pass/fail open-book skills exam is administered on the first Friday of orientation with a minimum passing score of 90% — failure to pass results in contract termination
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Unit support includes nursing assistants, charge nurses, PT/OT, RN case manager, social worker, educator, and dietician
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove them will result in contract termination
• RTO must be disclosed upfront; no more than 7 days per 13-week contract will be approved, and no additional RTO will be approved after consideration
• Unit culture emphasizes teamwork, cultural sensitivity, and compassionate care for oncology patients across all stages of treatment
