Description:
This is a fast-paced specialty medical/surgical unit. The unit provides growth in professional knowledge and expertise in the care delivery of cardiovascular patients. Staff members care for specialty patients, such as stable heart and lung transplants and Ventricular Assist Devices. The patient-to-nurse ratio is typically 1:5 during the day and 1:6 velers must be prepared to float frequently to meet the needs of the facility.
Patients will include those with chest tubes, central line care, and IV insulin protocols. Management of dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring are essential responsibilities. The facility is a 49-bed unit focusing on the care of cardiovascular patients. Weekend shifts consist of four out of eight possible in a four-week period. Travelers must work two of three major holidays during the winter season.
A nicotine-free policy is in place for the entire facility. All travelers must submit their requests for time off with their application. Pending license applications are accepted, provided that the active license is obtained prior to starting.
