Overview

Are you a compassionate nurse looking for a flexible PRN opportunity in behavioral health? EDCare is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Omaha team on an as‑needed basis. This role provides coverage for vacations, sick leave, and periods of increased patient census, making it an excellent opportunity for nurses seeking supplemental hours while working with a collaborative interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to patients with eating disorders, including daily nursing duties such as specimen collection, point‑of‑care lab testing, phlebotomy, medication administration, EKGs, weight and vital sign monitoring, and bathroom observation.
  • Order and review standing lab studies per protocol, notify providers of significant findings, and follow up on results.
  • Address and triage patients’ medical concerns, communicate clinical information clearly and timely, and provide resources as needed.
  • Collaborate with milieu staff, physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and management to improve care delivery and maintain a therapeutic environment.
  • Reconcile prescribed medications, notify providers of concerns, and provide patient education on medication side‑effects and the medical complications of eating disorders.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including shift assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Adhere to infection control standards and regulatory requirements (Joint Commission, CDC, OSHA).
  • Confidentially handle patient information and maintain a secure and trusting environment.
  • Assist with milieu management and other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Current Nebraska LPN or RN license, or ability to obtain within required timeframe.
  • CPR certification, or ability to obtain within required timeframe.
  • Experience in behavioral health, mental health, or a related clinical setting preferred.
  • Strong assessment, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work PRN shifts based on staffing needs.
  • Ability to obtain CPR certification within 90 days of hire and maintain entry‑level computer skills in Microsoft Office and electronic medical records.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.

Physical Demands & Environment

Sitting, standing, walking, and reaching with arms and hands frequently during a 12‑hour shift. Talking, hearing, seeing, and using fingers intricately may be required. Lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds rarely. Environment is primarily indoors with normal temperature and noise levels typical of a medical office.
