American Traveler is hiring an experienced Level IV NICU RN for a night shift position requiring pre/post-op surgical skills and floating to Cardiac ICU.
Details- Work in a highly surgical Level IV NICU at a children's hospital
- Care for a diverse patient population ranging from 23 weeks gestation to 1 year of age
- Common diagnoses include PPHN, bowel perforation/NEC, BPD, tracheostomy/G-tube evaluations, pre-op cardiac anomalies, gastroschisis, and hydrocephalus
- Night shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts per week (19:00-7:30)
- 13-week assignment length
- Required to work one extra shift every 3 weeks during periods of high census
- First to float to PICU, CCU, or med surg floors to care for patients with similar skill sets
- Epic charting system preferred
- Active RN license (Nebraska or Compact) currently in hand
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
- Level IV NICU experience required
- Must be comfortable floating to Cardiac ICU and working with tracheostomy patients
- Must demonstrate strong pre/post-op surgical skills
- Prior travel nursing experience required unless candidate has 5+ years of experience
- Skills required include IV therapy, blood/blood product administration, central/umbilical line care, and neonatal dosage calculations
- Experience with ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP) and nasogastric/nasojejunal tube placement required
- No previous permanent employment with the facility allowed
- Provide comprehensive care to critically ill neonates and infants with complex surgical and medical needs
- Responsibilities include developmental care, patient/family teaching, thermoregulation, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- Perform suctioning, tracheostomy care, and management of chest tubes as needed
- Conduct sepsis work-ups and maintain isolation precautions/PPE protocols
- Must reside outside a 100-mile radius of the facility to be considered for this position
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this role unless they have 5+ years of NICU experience
