Work Schedule:

7pm to 7am, full‑time & part‑time options available (benefits start at 24 hrs per week). Every 3rd weekend required.

• Provide appropriate care specific to the age of the patient, ensuring understanding and comfort as outlined in the Population Specific Criteria.
• Identify opportunities for and give individualized customer service/patient care according to needs.
• Perform initial and ongoing assessment to determine patient’s ongoing nursing care needs.
• Include data from the patient or significant other(s) in the assessment as appropriate.
• Prioritize data collection according to patient’s immediate needs.
• Use assessment findings in discharge planning.
• Develop, review, and individualize the plan of care to address patient’s nursing needs for optimum outcomes.
• Collaborate with providers and other disciplines as appropriate.
• Provide teaching specific to the patient’s health‑care problem.
• Reflect continuous care needs and/or referrals for discharge/transfer in the plan of care.
• Implement interventions consistent with the established plan of care safely and appropriately.
• Follow unit nursing protocols and standards of care.
• Use current knowledge in nursing practice based on standards and research literature.
• Evaluate patient care to determine response to interventions for optimal outcomes.
• Monitor outcomes and document patient response to interventions.
• Evaluate patient capabilities and limitations related to nursing and medical interventions.
• Monitor patient and significant other(s) ability to manage care needs after dismissal.
• Provide comprehensive shift report (SBAR) to oncoming provider.
• Recognize and address patient/family capabilities and limitations (physical and mental).
• Perform technical skills competently and independently to assure patient safety.
• Learn new skills and equipment within area specifications and timeframe.
• Demonstrate correct and safe technique in equipment use according to policy.
• Follow appropriate procedure for obtaining, returning, or cleaning/disposing equipment and supplies.
• Maintain professional behavior, demeanor, and interactions to achieve the organization’s mission.
• Communicate effectively to solve problems at personal and unit level.
• Be approachable and professional with other health professionals, ancillary staff, patients, and family.

• Work within scope of practice as defined by State Nurse Practice Act.
• Observe precautions when administering hazardous medications or handling excreta from patients.
• Review, delegate, and evaluate plans for appropriate staff utilization according to the State Nurse Practice Act and professional standards.
• Ensure tasks are appropriate, personnel are competent, and communication is clear and complete.
• Act fiscally accountable.
• Charge accurately for supplies and equipment according to policy.

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) required; or within 5 years of hire for nurses with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• For MHC Surgery Main:
  Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or BSN required.
• For NMH Oncology:
  Electrocardiogram (EKG) course required.
• For NMH Medical Observation & Ortho Neuro: NIH Stroke Scale training or proof of training required…
