Description:
The RN will be responsible for providing care in a PCU and Med Surg setting with a focus on oncology patients. The unit primarily serves adult oncology and trauma PCU patients. The nurse will work in an environment with a total of 18 beds. RNs occasionally titrate insulin and Cardizem drips. Common medications include chemotherapy, heparin, Cardizem, and Protonix. Travelers should be comfortable managing high-flow respiratory equipment.
Support staff includes nursing assistants, charge nurses, physical and occupational therapists, case managers, social workers, educators, and dietitians. Hourly rounding and bedside shift reports are key patient experience focuses. Travelers may float to other Med/Surg and PCU units as needed. Ratios during the night shift are typically 1:4 to 1:5. The facility can cancel shifts according to specific policies. The charting system used is Epic. No BSN is required for this position.
