General Information about the IDU:
The Innovation Design Unit (IDU) is an active patient care environment intended to design, test, and validate new models of care, innovative technology, and facility design.
The IDU will have 17 patient rooms that are divided into zones. Each zone is intended to test various room designs or equipment. The primary patient population will be adult medical‑surgical. The levels of care include Medical‑Surgical, Progressive, and Intensive Care (acuity adaptable).

Virtual Nursing/Virtual Sitter
This unit also has a Clinical Quality Nurse Lead (CQNL) who provides bedside support to the nursing staff on the unit with a focus on patient safety and quality.
Interactive Patient Experience Platform featuring digital displays for patient engagement and staff efficiencies.
Real Time Location Systems- to enhance safety and efficiency

The IDU Staff Nurse will drive innovation through active involvement in projects, pilots and processes that support achieving optimal patient outcomes, colleague well‑being and support organizational initiatives. Provide, prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing care with other health care providers to meet holistic care needs of a designated group of patients.
In partnership with the IDU Leadership, develop and lead the Innovation Design Unit, including developing processes to support innovation from idea generation to project implementation. Motivate and coach staff to drive innovation and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Collaborate with stakeholders across departments and organizations to identify opportunities for innovation in patient care. Comprehend complex requirements and translate them into innovative solutions.
Build relationships with key stakeholders to drive innovation initiatives forward. Take a holistic point of view to patient care and identify opportunities for innovation and practice or process change that can improve patient outcomes.
Coordinate the required resources for patient care delivery. While on site, problem‑solve and expedite communications with other health care providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Provide, delegate, and coordinate nursing care with other health care providers to meet holistic care needs of a designated group of patients. Ensure patient satisfaction and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Partner closely with colleagues to serve as a clinical expert, regularly model/mentor and train colleagues on technical skills, make decisions regarding daily priorities for the work group, provide guidance to and/or assist staff on non‑routine or escalated issues.
The IDU will rigorously pilot new models of care by leveraging processes, technologies and facility design concepts within a platform for continuous discovery.
Required Qualifications:- Minimum of 18 months current clinical experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) required.
- Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills required.
- Ability to instruct and collaborate with others required.
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nebraska or current compact state license required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
