LocationOmaha, NE | Labor and Delivery / LDRP
Schedule / Job TypeContract | Night Shift | 12-hour shifts (6:30 AM–7:00 PM / 6:30 PM–7:00 AM) | Every third weekend required | Rotating major and minor holidays
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care in a 14-bed LDRP unit serving patients with intrauterine pregnancy, pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, and water births
- Titrate drips including Pitocin, magnesium, insulin, antihypertensives, and hemorrhage medications
- Follow AWHONN staffing standards and guidelines for patient ratios
- Collaborate with charge nurses and OB techs (1 OB tech per shift) to deliver safe, high-quality care
- Complete a unit-specific open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum passing score of 90%
- May voluntarily float to other hospital departments as a sitter or tasker, or to another campus OB floor
- Active RN license
- BLS certification required
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
- Valid driver's license required at time of submittal (used to verify radius compliance)
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Candidates may not be currently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any facility associated with Common Spirit, including CHI and/or Dignity Health
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; compliance is required to maintain contract
- Prior Labor and Delivery or LDRP nursing experience
- Experience titrating obstetric drips (Pitocin, magnesium, antihypertensives)
- Familiarity with AWHONN guidelines and staffing standards
- Experience managing high-acuity OB diagnoses such as pre-eclampsia and hemorrhage
- Work in a dynamic LDRP setting offering exposure to a wide range of obstetric cases including water births and high-acuity maternal conditions
- Scheduling preferences are considered when building the unit schedule, offering some flexibility within the contract structure
