The Extended Recovery RN, s responsible for providing high-quality patient-centered care to post-operative orthopedic patients requiring extended recovery or overnight care. This role involves monitoring patient conditions, managing pain, preventing complications, encouraging early mobility, preparing patients for their discharge home, and ensuring a safe recovery process. The Extended Recovery nurse will work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, hospitalists, nurse navigators, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes and maintain safety standards.

36 / Three 12-Hour shifts, 6:45p - 7:15a + built in weekends and holidays

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
* Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age /weight of the patients served.
* Performs technical skills competently and independently to assure patient safety.
* In-depth knowledge of surgical operation procedures Highly skilled at assessing patients prior to surgery and providing them with perioperative care Extensive knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques Ability to collaborate with surgeons and other healthcare professionals Solid understanding of patient health and safety standards Excellent organizational skills

*** Performs an initial and ongoing assessment to determine the assigned patient’s ongoing nursing care needs.
* Develops/reviews/revises and individualizes the plan of care to address the patient’s nursing care needs for optimum patient care outcome.
* Implements interventions consistent with the established plan of care in a safe and appropriate manner.
* Evaluates patient care to determine response to care/interventions for optimal patient outcome.
* Maintains a professional behavior in attitudes, demeanor, interactions to achieve organization’s mission.
* Initiates action to correct, prevent, and/or minimize risk(s) to the patient, family or hospital employees (i.e., falls, needle sticks, patient concerns).
* Comply with safety activities, policies and procedures and regulatory requirements such as OSHA and The Joint Commission.
* Participate in performance improvement activities.
* Attend and participate in department meetings.
* Attend mandatory educational programs.
* Follow established guidelines as stated in hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
* Responsible for all other duties as assigned.  Must be able to pass background check. We also conduct pre-employment physical and drug testing. Any job offer will be contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical with a drug screen, background check and obtaining active licensures per job requirements.
