American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Level 2 Trauma unit requiring NE or compact RN licensure and prior critical care experience.
Details- Acute care setting within the ICU (Intensive Care Unit)
- Level 2 Trauma facility
- Nurse:patient ratio of 1:2, with downgrades staffed at 1:5 for medical patients and 1:4 for PCU
- Common diagnoses include COPD, pneumonia, CVA, TIA, DKA, sepsis, CHF, STEMI, and neuro cases
- RNs required to titrate drips including vasopressors, insulin, TNK, heparin, IV antibiotics, and sedatives
- Charge nurse present on each shift and takes an assignment
- Nurse aides/patient care techs available on the unit with ratios adjusting based on census
- 24/7 in-house critical care coverage with intensivist and E-ICU support staffed by nurse and APRN
- RNs manage ventilators and BiPAP equipment and must read and interpret their own telemetry strips
- 12-hour night shifts, scheduled
- Every other weekend requirement with holiday coverage varying based on unit needs
- Floating required to PCU and Medical floor units
- EPIC EMR used
- Active RN license (NE state or Compact/NLC) required, pending licenses not accepted
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required, active only
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Driver's license required at time of consideration to verify residency
- Must provide 2 professional references: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
- Provide critical care nursing to a diverse ICU patient population, including managing titratable drips and ventilator/BiPAP support
- Complete a first week of system orientation and onboarding followed by 1-2 shifts of unit-specific orientation
- Pass a pass/fail, open-book skills exam during orientation with a required score of 90% to continue the assignment
- Navy blue scrubs required per unit dress code
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply may result in contract termination
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, verified via driver's license
- Candidates may not have been employed full time, part time, or PRN with any Common Spirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested upfront per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved after submission
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
