Position SummaryThis position supports advanced laboratory research activities with a primary focus on next-generation sequencing (NGS) for the identification and characterization of viral and bacterial pathogens. The role independently performs complex laboratory procedures, including sample preparation, sequencing library construction, and operation of sequencing instrumentation. It contributes to method development and optimization, performs preliminary data review, and supports implementation of new laboratory workflows that include maintaining laboratory operations, assisting with regulatory compliance and biosafety practices, managing laboratory inventory, and training new laboratory personnel.
The role requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to apply technical judgment in the execution of laboratory protocols.

- Ability to take the initiative to work independently.
- Knowledge of general biology and chemistry.
- Familiar with basic research lab procedures.
- Ability to travel overseas, specifically in Africa and Asia, including securing and maintaining a valid passport and travel visas as needed.
- Preferred Education:
Master’s degree or equivalent - Preferred Degree Field:
Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or related scientific field - Preferred Experience:
- More than two years working in a scientific research or clinical laboratory.
- Molecular biology laboratory and experience.
- Experience in Illumina and Oxford Nanopore Technologies sequencing.
- Preferred License:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:- Extensive knowledge of research methodology and techniques.
