Lab Supervisor
The Lab Supervisor oversees day‑to‑day laboratory operations with a strong focus on microbiology, ensuring accurate testing, defensible data integrity, and thorough documentation. This role leads and coaches laboratory technicians, promotes a culture of safety and quality, and prepares the lab for external audits. The Lab Supervisor maintains a clean, organized, and sanitary lab environment while driving timely and accurate reporting of laboratory results.
Responsibilities- Oversee daily laboratory operations with a hands‑on focus on microbiology testing.
- Ensure the accuracy of testing, maintain defensible data integrity, and uphold proper documentation practices.
- Coach and mentor laboratory technicians on quality control requirements, laboratory best practices, and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure the laboratory is fully prepared for all external audits, including documentation, processes, and staff readiness.
- Maintain a clean, well‑organized, and sanitary laboratory environment, coordinating with facilities and maintenance teams as needed.
- Promote and enforce a strong culture of safety, ensuring the lab environment meets all applicable safety standards and protocols.
- Monitor staff turnover trends and implement strategies to reduce turnover and improve retention.
- Emphasize cross‑training among team members to build flexibility, support career advancement, and strengthen overall team capability.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of laboratory results and related information.
- Develop and maintain clear reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures to support laboratory operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in science, business, or a related field.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in an operations setting leading an hourly workforce, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Hands‑on experience in a laboratory environment, with a strong focus on microbiology.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop a team in a fast‑paced operations or laboratory setting.
- Strong understanding of quality control requirements and laboratory best practices.
- Ability to ensure data integrity and maintain accurate, compliant documentation.
- Skilled in developing reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and the ability to uphold safety standards and protocols.
The Lab Supervisor works in a commercial laboratory environment with a strong emphasis on microbiology testing and strict quality and safety standards. The role involves being hands‑on at the bench, overseeing testing activities, and interacting regularly with laboratory technicians, facilities, and maintenance teams. The environment requires consistent attention to cleanliness, organization, and sanitation, as well as adherence to documented procedures and protocols.
Work is primarily conducted on‑site in the lab, where timely reporting, audit readiness, and safe operations are central to daily activities.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Omaha, NE.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.65 - $38.46/hr.
