Essential Functions
The Department of Physics invites applications for a postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Nebraska U.S. Department of Energy grant titled "A High-Throughput Computational and Experimental Approach to the Design of Unconventional Magnets" supports this position. The Research Associate will support experimental research focused on the development and characterization of NV‑diamond quantum nanosensors. This work will emphasize the use of magnetometry and NV‑center-based quantum sensing to investigate nanoscale magnetic signals in nanomaterials and biosensing platforms.
A primary application of this research will be the development of ultrasensitive detection strategies for micro
RNA (miRNA). The Research Associate will conduct laboratory experiments using advanced instrumentation, including magnetometry, NV‑diamond quantum sensing, and single‑molecule fluorescence, to study nanosensors designed for selective and sensitive miRNA detection.
The initial appointment will be for one year, contingent on funding, with a preferred start date of July 1, 2026. This is a full‑time, benefits‑eligible position.
Required Qualifications- PhD in Physics/Chemistry (or a related field) at the time of application.
- Demonstrated ability to design, troubleshoot, and optimize experimental setups.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document and present research findings.
