We are seeking an accomplished and visionary Vice Chair of Research to lead our Department of Dermatology’s research efforts and contribute to the advancement of dermatological science.
The Vice Chair of Research will play a key role in shaping the research direction of the department, fostering collaboration, and elevating our academic and research programs. This position offers the opportunity to make a substantial impact on the future of dermatology research and patient care.
Key Responsibilities Research Leadership- Provide strategic leadership for the department’s research initiatives, including basic, translational, and clinical research.
- Develop and execute a research strategy that aligns with the department’s mission and objectives.
- Promote a culture of innovation, scientific rigor, and excellence in research.
- Foster collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including academic institutions, industry partners, and funding agencies.
- Develop partnerships that enhance the department’s research capabilities and opportunities.
- Represent the department in research-related matters at local, national, and international levels.
- Lead efforts to secure research funding, grants, and contracts.
- Encourage and support faculty, researchers, and trainees in their research endeavors.
- Promote interdisciplinary research and facilitate multidisciplinary research teams.
- Contribute to the academic mission of the department by mentoring and educating students, residents, fellows, and faculty.
- Promote the dissemination of research findings through publications, presentations, and academic activities.
- Oversee the administrative aspects of the research program, including budget management, compliance, and research support services.
- Collaborate with the department chair on strategic planning and decision-making.
- Ensure adherence to ethical standards and regulatory requirements in research.
- Promote a culture of research integrity and responsible conduct.
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree with board certification in Dermatology.
- Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Nebraska.
- A record of significant contributions to dermatology research, including publications, grants, and collaborative research.
- Proven leadership experience in research, preferably in an academic or healthcare setting.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- PhD, MS, or other advanced research degree preferred, not required.
