The
Nebraska Translational Research Center (NTRC)in the
College of Dentistry at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC)is seeking highly motivated
Postdoctoral Fellows
to join an interdisciplinary research team focused on
regenerative medicine, biomaterials, tissue engineering, drug delivery, stem cell-based therapies, and translational tissue repair
.
Our
NIH-, Department of Defense-, and industry-sponsored research programs
develop innovative therapies for
bone, craniofacial, nerve, muscle, and skin regeneration
, with particular emphasis on
biomaterials, bioelectronic medicine, localized drug delivery, musculoskeletal regeneration, neural regeneration, and translational approaches that accelerate functional tissue repair and recovery
.
The laboratory provides access to
state-of-the-art biomaterials, imaging, molecular biology, tissue engineering, and preclinical research facilities
within a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary research environment.
Current and emerging projects include:
- Bone, craniofacial, and alveolar regeneration
- Peripheral nerve injury and regeneration
- Skin wound healing and scar reduction
- Volumetric muscle loss and skeletal muscle regeneration
- Musculoskeletal injury and pain
- Biomaterials and tissue engineering
- Controlled and localized drug delivery
- Bioelectronic medicine and electroactive regenerative strategies
- Small-molecule therapeutics for tissue regeneration
We welcome applications from highly motivated candidates with a
PhD, MD, DMD/DDS, MD/PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree
in:
- Biomedical Engineering or Bioengineering
- Pharmaceutical Sciences
- Cell or Molecular Biology
- Biological Sciences
- Regenerative Medicine or Tissue Engineering
- Dentistry or Medicine
- Or a related field
Experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable:
- Biomaterials and tissue engineering
- Drug delivery and controlled release
- Cell culture and primary cell isolation
- Molecular and cellular biology
- Histology and immunohistochemistry (IHC)
- Immunofluorescence and microscopy
- Molecular assays and gene/protein expression analysis
- Small-animal handling and preclinical models
- Bone, nerve, muscle, or skin injury models
- Tissue regeneration and wound healing
Candidates do not need experience in all areas. We are particularly interested in individuals with strong expertise in one or more complementary disciplines who are enthusiastic about interdisciplinary and translational research.
The NTRC provides a highly collaborative research environment integrating
biomaterials, drug delivery, cellular and molecular biology, tissue engineering, bioelectronic approaches, and preclinical models of tissue injury and regeneration
.
Fellows will be encouraged to lead publications, participate in grant development and fellowship applications, and establish a strong foundation for independent research careers in academia, biotechnology, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and translational medicine.
The successful candidate will have opportunities to:
- Publish high-impact scientific papers
- Contribute to and develop research proposals and fellowship applications
- Participate in federally funded research programs, including NIH and Department of Defense projects
- Collaborate across UNMC and the University of Nebraska system
- Engage in translational research and technology development
- Contribute to intellectual property generation and commercialization efforts
- Develop skills for future careers in academia, biotechnology, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, industry, or clinical research
