Position SummaryThis role is to maintain and operate the produce department, ensuring all processes meet company and department standards and contribute to the store’s financial objectives.
Responsibilities- Cut, slice, and prepare produce following established procedures for culling, trimming and storing product.
- Weigh, package and label products.
- Handle spoiled or damaged products per guidelines.
- Fill, rotate, and merchandise produce and floral shelves, cases, and displays.
- Assist with unloading deliveries and stacking products in coolers.
- Notify the manager when products or supplies need ordering.
- Practice suggestive selling techniques with customers.
- Maintain familiarity with all products in the department, including differences in price, taste, preparation, and use.
- Keep the department clean, attractive, and well‑stocked.
- Follow all PPE and safety guidelines.
- Follow food safety and cleaning expectations.
- Follow guest experience guidelines.
- Assist in other departments as needed to support customer experience.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
- Minimum one year of retail or related experience (preferred).
- Ability to work with fresh produce without allergic reactions that impair performance.
- Basic reading, writing, comprehension, and document interpretation skills.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Lifting or moving up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, and turning.
- Exposure to varying temperatures, outdoor weather conditions, and a typical retail store environment.
- Noise level usually low to moderate.
- Travel requirements vary by assignment.
