Nearly New Shop Mission Statement
The primary mission of the Nearly New Shop (as part of the ECW’s mission) is to raise funds for women’s and children’s ministries as a key part of St. Andrew’s outreach. In doing this, the shop provides a service to women, men, and children in the community by selling gently‑used, quality clothing and quality items from our St. Andrew’s Artisans’ Guild.
The shop also provides fellowship for church volunteers and is a public‑facing, positive image of St. Andrew’s to the Omaha community.
The Nearly New Shop Coordinator oversees the store's operations, including daily business functions, volunteer staffing, inventory management, merchandising, customer service, and financial performance. The coordinator will ensure a positive and inviting environment for customers and volunteers and drive revenue to serve the ministry.
Reports ToThe Rector of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Omaha.
Expected HoursThis is a part‑time, hourly position with 15 hours per week expected. The working days and hours of the Nearly New Shop Coordinator are flexible based on the scheduling of volunteer leaders and volunteers. At a minimum, the Coordinator will be in the Nearly New Shop on at least one day each week during operating hours.
Salary$15,000/year
Responsibilities Store operations- Coordinate a schedule of volunteers to support the full cycle of thrift store operations, including opening, closing, and daily cash handling.

- Help develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and compliance.
- Coordinate maintenance and address any issues related to the store's facility and equipment.
- Attend and participate in weekly church staff meetings (in‑person or on Zoom) in order to help the NNS be a source of communication for activities and mission.
- Collaborate with church leadership on pop‑up store events (e.g. The Arts and Crafts Faire, Summer Music Jam Concerts…).
- Coordinates the entire donation process, from receiving and sorting to pricing and displaying items.
- Actively work with St. Andrew’s and the community to facilitate new and recurring donations
- Maintain the system for regularly rotating merchandise to keep the sales floor fresh and exciting for customers.
- Manage sales channels, if applicable, for high‑value or unique items.
- Ensure the back room and storage areas are organized, and items are processed efficiently.
- Work with other church staff to maximize sales, create and execute engaging visual merchandising plans, social media presence, and in‑store promotions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting sales floor that showcases the store's merchandise effectively.
- Help recruit volunteers and assist in training volunteers, including but not limited to store volunteers, volunteer leads for specific processes, and volunteer workdays.
- Follow St. Andrew’s safeguarding policy.
- Report any challenges or issues with volunteers and procedures to the Rector.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, donors, and the community.
- Monitor and analyze sales data, manage the store budget, work with the ECW treasurer to prepare financial reports sent to the Vestry and ECW board (monthly), and be present quarterly (or as needed) in person at the ECW board meetings.
- Oversee all cash handling and banking procedures to ensure accuracy and security in collaboration with the Financial Administrator of St. Andrew’s.
- Ensure the Nearly New pricing and branding guidelines are followed.
- Experience in retail, preferably in a thrift or second‑hand environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Point‑of‑Sale (POS) systems, inventory management software, and basic computer applications.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift to 25 pounds.
- Knowledge of vintage items, collectibles, or current fashion trends.
- Experience with visual merchandising
