The Inside Sales Representative (Schools Division) is responsible for managing, supporting, and growing the School business unit through high-volume order processing, detailed account data management, systems-driven inside sales support, and proactive territory development. This role serves as the primary liaison for accounts in the OH, IN, KY, and MI markets and is heavily focused on accurate data entry, order lifecycle management, reporting, CRM/ERP system maintenance, and outbound prospecting to identify and pursue new business opportunities.

Working cross-functionally with Sales, Warehouse, Accounting, IT, Shipping, and Purchasing teams, this position supports territory growth through inbound and outbound research, account management, detailed order coordination, and ongoing account analysis while ensuring operational accuracy and customer satisfaction.

What you will do:
  • Perform high-volume, detail-oriented data entry of customer orders, pricing updates, credits, returns, and account changes.
  • Process incoming orders via phone, email, and internal systems with strong emphasis on speed and accuracy.
  • Maintain and audit customer records, pricing structures and shipping details within company systems.
  • Manage the full order lifecycle from entry through shipment, delivery confirmation, and follow-up.
  • Track order status, back orders, shipments, and delivery timelines to ensure accurate and timely fulfillment.
  • Review daily order and activity reports to identify discrepancies or overlooked transactions.
  • Review and process return authorizations, replacements, and credit memos.
  • Identify and resolve pricing discrepancies, shortages, freight issues, and shipping concerns.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of customer interactions, transactions, and account activity.
  • Generate and review reports to monitor account trends, purchasing patterns, and sales opportunities.
  • Proactively identify, research, and pursue new school accounts within assigned territory.
  • Conduct outbound calls and outreach campaigns to generate new business and reactivate dormant accounts.
  • Analyze territory performance data to identify revenue gaps and growth opportunities.
  • Expand product penetration within existing accounts through upselling and cross-selling.
  • Consistently follow up on quotes, samples, and promotional campaigns to convert opportunities into sales.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing School customers.
  • Serve as primary inside contact for designated accounts and backup for Customer Service.
  • Respond to inbound inquiries while balancing outbound prospecting efforts.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure seamless order execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate regularly with customers and internal teams regarding order updates, product information, and service needs.
  • Maintain working knowledge of company product lines, pricing structures, and policies.
What you will need:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Customer Service (electronic, phone) and Inside Sales experience.
  • Strong and accurate data entry skills with ability to manage high transaction volume.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and 10-key entry.

    AS400 experience helpful, but not required
  • Ability to quickly learn and navigate order entry, ERP, or CRM systems.
  • Strong analytical skills to review reports and identify sales opportunities or discrepancies.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive, “hunter” mindset for developing new business.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to transactional accuracy.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact positively and effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English competently.

    Spanish speaking a plus but not required.
  • Ability to travel required as needed (15-20%)
