As a Business Development Representative Intern at gWorks, you will be on the front lines of our go-to-market strategy, identifying and engaging prospective government clients across the country. You’ll work closely with our experienced sales team to generate qualified leads, book meetings for Account Executives, and contribute directly to gWorks’ growth. This is a high-impact role for a driven, curious individual who wants real sales experience — not coffee runs.
WhatYou’ll Do Prospecting & Outreach
- Research and identify prospective municipal, county, and township accounts across assigned territories
- Execute high-volume outbound outreach via phone, and email follow up to engage government decision-makers
- Personalize messaging based on account research, pain points, and current events in local government
- Follow up on inbound leads and marketing-sourced contacts in a timely and professional manner
- Qualify prospects using criteria established by the Sales Development Manager
- Schedule discovery calls and product demonstrations for Account Executives
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all prospect interactions in Salesforce CRM
- Track and report on weekly activity metrics and pipeline progress
- Participate in team standups, weekly training sessions, and sales team meetings
- Shadow Account Executive calls and client meetings to build product and process knowledge
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to align outbound messaging with campaigns
- Continuously refine outreach sequences based on performance data and coaching feedback
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Political Science or a related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with professional presence
- Self-motivated with a high-energy, goal-oriented mindset
- Ability to handle rejection with resilience and maintain consistent effort
- Organized with excellent time management and attention to detail
- Genuine curiosity about technology, government, and how the two intersect
- Previous experience in sales, customer service, or a client-facing role (internship or part-time)
- Familiarity with CRM tools (Salesforce, Hub Spot, or similar)
- Experience with outreach tools such as Outreach.io, Salesloft, or Zoom Info
- Knowledge of or interest in local government, public administration, or civic technology
- Demonstrated leadership or involvement in campus organizations
- Hourly Rate: $15.00 per hour, Monday - Thursday 8:00 a.m.
- 5:00 p.m. CT - Performance Bonus:
