Position Overview

Senior Therapeutic Area Specialist, Oncology – Omaha, NE – Field based role at Bristol Myers Squibb.

The Senior TAS is critical to executing BMS’ strategy of delivering impactful engagement with Health Care Providers, driving adoption of BMS medicines for appropriate patients. The role focuses on building strong professional credibility with regional thought leaders and community-based physicians, ensuring safe and appropriate use of BMS products while delivering high‑quality Customer Experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote approved indications of BMS products within defined territory to meet or exceed sales targets in a compliant manner.
  • Articulate clinical and scientific rationale for product use, driving demand through balanced scientific dialogue.
  • Maintain and grow a high level of scientific expertise across assigned products and therapeutic areas.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive territory and account plans.
  • Use tools such as CE^3 to derive insights, inform call plans, and provide iterative feedback to leadership.
  • Demonstrate scientific expertise using approved resources; provide accurate, label‑consistent information.
  • Conduct in‑office presentations and collaborate on external speaker programs.
  • Engage real‑time medical support via Medical on Call for technical inquiries.
  • Collaborate with other field teams and share insights to enhance Customer Experience.
  • Comply with all laws, regulations, and BMS policies.
  • Field‑based: 100% time in the field with external customers.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Advanced scientific degree and/or preferred 5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology sales, clinical support, or nursing roles.
  • Strong ability to communicate scientific/clinical data convincingly to physicians.
  • Experience building credibility with key customers and office staff via a customer‑centric mindset.
  • Preferable experience in Oncology.
  • Proven account management skills, superior selling competencies, and a track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals.
  • Ability to work effectively cross‑functionally with a positive team mindset.
  • Strong selling and promotional skill set demonstrated through performance.

Compensation Overview

Field – United States – $144,500 – $175,100. Starting compensation includes base salary plus potential incentive cash and stock opportunities. Final pay determined by experience.
