Position Summary:

The Sales Account Manager meets sales and/or profitability objectives. Develops customer sales strategies and builds relationships based on the company's values. In this role, you will help identify and contact prospective customers, build relationships and contribute to the assessment of customer needs, and suggest appropriate products, services and solutions that maximize product revenue and improve profitability. Product rotation by date is critical in a perishable box beef and trim sales environment.

Sales professionals identify marketplace opportunities, prospects, engage new clients, develop proposals, and manage the contract process. Reports to the VP of Sales with significant self-oversight. This position is located in Omaha, Nebraska.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Achieve tight deadlines to meet quarterly and annual sales quotas.
  • Negotiate and manage sales to meet production output and age rotation of box beef.
  • Negotiate and manage sales to meet production output and age rotation of beef trim.
  • Consult with clients on needs and business objectives.
  • Make actionable and insightful recommendations for products and services.
  • Resolve sales or delivery issues.
  • Develop clear and effective written proposals/quotations for current and prospective customers.
  • Coordinate sales effort with marketing, sales management, and accounting.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Align with customer partners to negotiate product pricing within pricing function guidelines.
  • Develop customer sales strategies to meet customer and company goals and objectives.
  • Processes customer orders and manage overall order fill rate and on time delivery service.
  • Gather and communicate channel, market, customer or competitive information and intelligence and interact with team on strategy and pricing functions.
  • Manage sales for accounts using market and product knowledge
  • Work daily with pricing and margin management to give current pricing to accounts to generate sales
  • Assist in tying orders to make full trucks in responsible area
  • Awareness off market conditions, trends and competition pricing and report that to margin management
  • Multi task efficiently and be able to develop sales plans and organize administrative responsibilities
  • Own and execute sales-related KPIs in agreement with management
  • Good working relationships with both internal and external customers
  • Be able to communicate shorts, delivery status, and order status and keep high customer service levels
  • Some travel required (about 10-15% of time) for customer visits, plant visits, market research, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelors or advanced degree in in Agriculture Business, Meat Science, Marketing, or Animal Science —preferred but not required.
  • Two or more years in protein sales.
  • Possesses a strong knowledge of industry processes, documentation, and qualifications.
  • Possesses a strong network of customers and contacts within all industry market channels
  • Demonstrated sales planning, forecasting and sales execution experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, decision making and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with customers, prospects, and fellow employees.
  • Strong aptitude to effectively interpret and use multiple information sources to develop customer specific tactical plans and options.
  • Willingness to work across multiple times zones is a must.
  • Reasonable experience with Microsoft Office applications (word, excel, outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Strong listening, presentation, and business networking skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong influencing skills, superior business acumen and negotiation skills.
  • Extensive beef industry knowledge and cuts.
  • Critical thinking, problem solving, planning and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in a diverse workforce and with upper management.
