Wilson & Company, Inc. is looking for a full‑time Environmental Professional – Biologist and Wetland Specialist to join its Midwest Region team in Omaha, Nebraska. The role involves biological surveys, wetland delineations, draft reports, site forms, environmental analyses, and the delivery of high‑quality documents supporting federal, state, local, and tribal clients under the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, NEPA and other regulations.
EssentialJob Functions
Provide technical environmental resource expertise for wetland and biological resources, conduct fieldwork across Nebraska, Missouri, and Kansas (including national travel), prepare biological resource reports (Technical Memos, Biological Assessments, etc.), consult with jurisdictional and regulatory agencies, and collaborate on NEPA documentation. Additional expertise in hazardous materials, noise, water quality, historic/cultural resources, Section 4(f), air quality, or Stormwater Pollution and Prevention Plans will also be considered.
Plan and conduct field delineations of Waters of the U.S., generate delineation reports, functional assessments, mitigation plans, and jurisdictional determinations; prepare permit applications under Sections 404/401 of the Clean Water Act and NPDES Section 402; coordinate with state, federal and local regulatory agencies; conduct vegetation and species habitat surveys; complete database reviews and background research for NEPA documents; consult with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on Section 7 meetings.
TaskManagement Duties
Serve as project or task manager for environmental/NEPA projects within the Midwest and firm‑wide, coordinating with team members to deliver projects on schedule and within budget. Support national environmental program through marketing, proposal preparation and environmental analysis.
Required Skills and Experience- Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Biology, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Planning or a related discipline (advanced degrees considered).
- At least 2 years of experience conducting T&E assessments, wetland delineations, permitting across the Arid West, Western Mountain, Great Plains, and/or Midwest supplements.
- At least 2 years of experience preparing T&E and wetland delineation reports, Section 404 permits, and mitigation plans.
- Proficiency in GPS data collection, ArcGIS and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to identify wetlands, jurisdictional waters of the U.S., soil and vegetation types, wildlife species and habitats typical of the Midwest region.
- Effective oral and written communication skills and proven ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
- Task‑management skills with a track record of completing work on schedule and within budget.
- 4+ years of experience in T&E assessments, wetland delineations and permitting across the Arid West, Western Mountain, Great Plains, and/or Midwest supplements.
- 4+ years of experience preparing T&E and wetland delineation reports, Section 404 permits and mitigation plans.
- Professional certifications such as Wetland Professional in Training or Professional Wetland Scientist.
- Experience managing NEPA and other environmental projects at the federal, state, local and tribal levels.
- Experience coordinating with Nebraska environmental agencies, including the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
- Technical writing skill for NEPA documents.

Salary$55,000 – $75,000 per year, depending on experience.
