This position is part of the Army Fellows Program and is a CIVILIAN position with the Department of the Army. It is being filled under the Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce.

The Army Fellows Program provides an exciting opportunity to embark on a developmental, accelerated career path as an Army Civilian, including continued training and educational opportunities, with no military obligation. Fellows may also receive paid training, certifications, and rotational assignments.

In this role you will:
  • Apply concepts and techniques in biological, physical, and ecological sciences to support a variety of projects.
  • Assist with determining the potential impacts of proposed activities on wetlands and wildlife resources.
  • Devise both short- and long-term migration plans to minimize adverse effects on the environment and assist with preparing the reports.
Qualifications

Must be a U.S. Citizen

Basic Requirements for Environmental Resource Specialist:

  • Degree:
    Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. Degree must be completed by June 2026.
  • Specialized

    Experience:

    One year of specialized experience that includes one or more of the following: assisting in applying concepts and techniques in biological, physical, and ecological sciences to support projects; determining impacts of activities on wetlands and wildlife resources; developing short- and long-term migration plans to minimize adverse effects on the environment and assisting with preparing reports. Must meet the definition of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS‑05).
  • OR

    Education:

    One full year of graduate-level education (or completion of one full year by June 2026) in a field such as biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, or chemistry, demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for the position.
