Campus Security Officer

Overview

The role of the Public Safety Security Officer is to promote lawful behavior and protect the welfare of students, faculty, staff, patients, and visitors through uniformed presence on campus and in the hospital environment. Officers perform uniformed foot and vehicle security patrols, monitor using surveillance systems, secure buildings and property, respond to and report suspicious behavior, disturbances, and thefts. Security officers maintain order as assigned or until law enforcement personnel are available.

• This is a full-time position in a 24/7 operation. Availability must support 24-hour coverage, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays, mandatory overtime, and pre-scheduled special events.
• Work hours initially assigned to accommodate training and immediate scheduling needs; schedule is determined by periodic bid process.
• Respond to emergencies within hospital and clinic areas.
• Fit test and train in the use of specialized protective gear used when responding to calls for service where there is a potential for communicable illnesses.
• Special protective gear requires contact with smooth skin; officers must not wear beards.
