About Us and About The Team:
In Security, we are dedicated to protecting and serving Children’s amazing patients, families and employees. If you like variety in your days and helping people, this position with Children’s Security may be a good fit.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, organize, and direct the activities of the Dispatcher and Security Officers on a day-to-day basis; staff a security post on a shift when needed.
  • Oversee field training of new hires; review and approve incident reports.
  • Lead the department’s initial response to emergencies and manage operations during the absence of other leadership.
  • Represent the security department at meetings, functions, and activities as directed.
  • Staff security posts and patrol facilities; respond to calls-for-service and enforce CHS policies.
  • Escort visitors and vendors to secure areas; respond to codes and alarms; de-escalate incidents as needed.
  • Complete regular daily and detailed incident reports; maintain facility security by managing door access.
  • Coordinate with other departments to provide security services; lead Security Officers in routine and emergency situations; participate in daily hospital briefings and shift briefings.
  • Schedule officers to meet staffing requirements; ensure compliance with directives and policies; inform Security Supervisor of issues.
  • Direct security services in the field and train officers; evaluate performance and recommend discipline or rewards to management.
  • Lead the Security Department during prolonged absences of Security Manager and Security Supervisor; inform management of critical issues and decisions; lead in critical incident response.
  • Approve/deny time-off requests; perform functions of Security Manager as needed.
  • Maintain regular attendance as an essential function; perform physical requirements as described.
Education Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED Required;
    Associate’s Degree or higher preferred.
Experience Qualifications
  • 1-3 years experience in a security function required; supervisory experience preferred; prior hospital security, civilian law enforcement or military experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and perform calculations to complete investigations and reports; interact professionally with the public, patients, visitors, employees and staff.
  • Knowledge of security and facilities systems, procedures, and policies; ability to plan, lead, organize, direct, and control activities of others.
Licenses and Certifications
  • IAHSS Certified Healthcare Security Supervisory Officer (CHSSO) within 60 days required; BLS - Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association required;
    Response to Resistance certification or Defensive Tactics (PPCT) within 60 days required; valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
