Fire Suppression Technician

Job Description

The purpose of the Fire Suppression Technician is to provide installation, inspection, service and/or repair of Fire Extinguishers and any Pre‑Engineered Suppression Systems.

• Use required tools and test equipment such as power machine groovers, cutters, band saws, lifts, etc. to repair or replace fire extinguishers and pre‑engineered systems.
• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of NFPA codes, standards, and related systems, including fire extinguishers, pre‑engineered suppression systems and fire alarm & security systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot defective components of pre‑engineered suppression systems.
• Repair or replace damaged components of pre‑engineered suppression systems and fire extinguishers.
• Communicate professionally with internal and external customers.
• Be punctual to required work locations and complete scheduled projects in a timely manner.
• Use Field Service Lightning to track work orders, materials, time, and documentation.
• Ensure company‑provided vehicle is clean and well‑maintained as required by company policies.
• Attend seminars or training sessions periodically to stay abreast of latest technology, codes, and standards changes.
• Train service technician trainees in all applicable aspects of this role.

• High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
• State or relevant certification (preferred).
• Minimum of 2 years’ industry experience specifically within Fire Suppression.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional computer skills.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to travel up to 20% of the time; possible overnight stays.
• Compliance with SFP’s Drug and Alcohol Policy and background screening requirements.
• Effective written and verbal communication in English with employees and customers.
• Ability to physically perform job duties, including bending, kneeling, lifting (≤50 lbs.), standing, walking, and occasional work at heights.

Employees will regularly work outside, exposed to hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards, and noise. Occasionally, work inside an office setting is required. Personal protective equipment must be worn as required by company safety policies.
