Night Shift Refrigeration Maintenance Technician

• Days:
  Sunday – Wednesday (Four 12‑hour shifts)
• Hours:
  
  4:45 pm to 5 am
• Pay Rate: $27–$36 per hour

The role involves operation, inspection, and maintenance of ammonia refrigeration and freezer equipment, including pumps, condensers, compressors, evaporators, valves, purgers, hot‑room conveyors and other utility system components.

• Service, repair, and rebuild valves and pumps.
• Perform major and minor repairs on utility equipment such as ammonia refrigeration, HVAC, air compressors, fire retention systems, and cooling towers.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, mechanical and electrical repair to keep systems operational for production, refrigeration, storage, and shipping needs.
• Maintain freezer equipment and building structure.
• Perform periodic equipment checks, monitor operational parameters, and take corrective actions when needed.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least 2 years background in ammonia systems.
• Current Ammonia Operator I or equivalent certification.
• Safety oriented at all times.
• Basic maintenance of building and support equipment.
• Positive attitude in fast‑paced environment.
• Familiarity with Frick computer management system.
• Ability to perform ammonia pump‑out safely.
• Check oil levels in compressors and add if needed.
• Operate all types of forklift equipment.
• Work at heights up to 60 ft indoors and 70 ft on rooftop.
• Detail oriented and collaborative on other projects.
• Communicate work order progress.
• Maintain cleanliness of engine room and maintenance shop.
• Responsible housekeeping of work areas.
• Knowledge of laws and safety of equipment.
• Work with voltages up to 480 V 3‑phase.
• Understand chemical treatment program.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Familiarity with in‑floor heating system.
• Calibrate equipment and instruments.
• Interpret mechanical and electrical diagrams.
• Open to further education in the ammonia field.
• Basic computer skills for CMMS.
• Learn all functions of CMMS system.

• Wear proper PPE including steel‑toe or composite‑toe EH rated shoes.
• Regular walking, standing, and movement throughout the day; may lift up to 50 lbs.
• Perform various physical activities: bending, lifting, stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms above shoulder and head, standing, working in enclosed areas, climbing stairs or ladders, operating heavy machinery.
• Noise level may vary but generally low to moderate.
