Job DescriptionSummary:
Troubleshoots, adjusts, and makes repairs for mechanical systems, HVAC, pumps, plumbing, general carpentry and electrical systems within the hospital and clinic buildings.
Monday-Friday 11a-7p. Includes shift differential.
Major Responsibilities & Duties- Operate and maintain mechanical equipment such as HVAC equipment, hot water heaters, pumps, chilled water systems, steam systems, plumbing, electrical systems, lighting and all utilities.
- Use power and hand tools to make adjustments and repairs when required.
- Read meters, gauges, printouts and other recording devices; record daily utility logs and assess building conditions by inspecting mechanical rooms.
- Operate building automation controls to view and edit setpoints; may include building, lighting, fire and security systems.
- Provide electrical maintenance services throughout the complex and clinics, including repairs to wiring, fixtures, motors, controls, appliances and other electrical systems.
- Repair and maintain plumbing systems using appropriate tools for line plug, break, and replacement clean‑ups; keep building hardware (doors, window latches, locks, hinges) in proper working condition.
- Repair cabinet, counter tops, and tables.
- Carry out a preventative maintenance program, maintain records, document completed work and time; initiate purchase requests for materials and supplies.
- Perform small project work for upgrades or changes to buildings as requested; be available for mechanical breakdowns or emergencies.
- Observe equipment installations to detect hazards, need for adjustments, relocation or replacement; use blueprints and component design knowledge to ensure maximum efficiency and code compliance.
- Contact and consult with outside contractors to explain and oversee successful completion of approved repairs, services, or modifications.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor to meet organizational needs.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one year’s experience in building maintenance within HVAC, plumbing, or electrical preventive maintenance and repairs.
- Knowledge of chilled water distribution systems, steam, and hot water heating systems.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record and must pass annual MVR.
