Ironworker Local 21 Apprentice Program
Local 21, a Department of Labor–registered apprenticeship program with jurisdiction in Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota, offers a 4‑year apprenticeship designed for individuals looking to become Journeyman Ironworkers.
The program combines one week of classroom instruction each month over four months, totaling at least 816 instructional hours, with 6,000 hours of on‑site work experience. Apprentices earn 65 % of the current Journeyman wage rate during training, with progressive increases as skills improve. All apprentices receive the same health and retirement benefits as Journeymen. Upon successful completion, apprentices are paid the full Journeyman wage of $32.35 per hour.

- Reeving blocks and tackle setup

- Laying metal decking
- Birth certificate or other proof of identity
- High school diploma or GED
- School transcripts
- Veterans may provide a copy of DD‑214
- Valid photo (e.g., Driver’s License or state‑issued )
