Elevator Operator I
1st shift: 6:30am-2:30pm
Responsibilities- Safely operating loading and unloading equipment.
- Operating equipment used to fill wheat bins in a safe and efficient manner.
- Any housekeeping duties as assigned, including but not limited to confined space bin cleaning operations.
- Responsible for the area ownership of all tunnels, galleries, rail unload area, and related zones.
- Learn and fill in for other positions within the elevator department:
Scale Man, Truck Dump Operator, Mixer, Feed Loader, and other elevator roles as needed. - Perform preventative maintenance tasks such as greasing, changing buckets, socks, idlers, patching and replacing spouts, and assisting maintenance and contractors with major repairs on equipment in a safe manner.
- Execute continuous duty responsibilities as required.
- Recognize grain condition factors (odor, protein, IDK) and notify supervisor when factors may adversely affect product quality or recommend adjustments.
- Work safely, following all safety procedures and using required safety equipment.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other company policies.
- Work efficiently with alertness, organization, cooperation, self‑starter attitude, and independent decision‑making aligned with operating procedures.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent work experience.
- Become familiar with unloading and conveyor/tripper equipment and operate it at maximum efficiency.
- Maintain neat, organized, and clean assigned areas.
- Computationally capable of simple math, reading tape measures, and following directions.
- Ready to work any shift, rotate as needed, and work overtime when required.
- Pass forklift, bobcat‑shuttle wagon training and operate this equipment safely.
- Shovel 30‑50 lbs. frequently.
- Work in dusty, dirty conditions.
- Communicate effectively, both written and verbal, via radio.
- Document necessary information as required by performed tasks.
- Obtain minimum Ardent Mills LEVEL II electrical certification.
- Learn PRISM, One Weigh, and use company email.
- Ascend and descend stairs multiple times per day.
- Climb ladders, steps, and extensions.
- Lift to 50 pounds and exert 20 pounds of force.
- Frequently stand, walk, rotate, bend/stoop, twist, crouch, kneel, balance, and reach at shoulder level and below.
- Perform duties involving bending, lifting up to 50 lbs., kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely.
- Work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions that may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, and use personal protective equipment, including a dust mask.
- Work in elevated areas (4 feet and above).
Team members must be clean shaven in order to perform tasks where respiratory protection is required; the respirator (including N‑95 dust mask) requires a proper seal for adequate protection.
