Journeyman Electrician Position Overview
HM Cragg is an 100% employee-owned company with an extremely impressive growth history. As a Journeyman Electrician, you will be responsible for installation, maintenance and repair projects of electrical systems and components specifically focused on the Telecommunications, Wireless, Utility and UPS markets.
Reporting Relationship:
The Journeyman Electrician will report to the Service Manager.
- Perform skilled electrical work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems for building & grounds and wire mold
- Perform the installation of transformers, control boards, electronic circuits, coils, circuit breakers, voltage regulators, switches, fuses, and related electrical equipment
- Perform installations of backup generator systems
- Determine modifications required when obstructions are met while installing electrical systems
- Read electrical blueprints, plans, and schematics.
- Develops strong line of communication with Electrical Manager/Master Electrician and within all departments utilizing electrical service
- Ability to work from wiring diagrams, schematics, sketches, blueprints, and/or verbal instructions
- Proficient in the use of standard electrician's tools and measuring/testing instruments such as ammeter, ohmmeter, voltmeter, and testing lamp
- Perform other duties and assignments as necessary
- Strong knowledge of DC power equipment, specifically in telecommunications, switch gear & control, and UPS industries
- Strong knowledge of generators, transfer switches, and distribution equipment
- Knowledge of electrical principles, applications, techniques, procedures, code, and equipment
- Knowledge of local and national electrical code
- Demonstrates proper use of material handling equipment
- Proactively stays up to date on safety training, compliance, and knowledge of HAZ MAT and DOT requirements
- Adheres to company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook and Safety Policy
- Demonstrates honesty and integrity in work and relationships
- Demonstrates innovation/creativity in work
- Possesses strong work ethic and takes ownership of both company and client goals/objectives
- Focused on understanding, meeting, and exceeding customer expectations
- Focused on collaboration and teamwork for the mutual success of the company and its employees
- Weekly travel up to 75% depending on customer needs
- Generally home every weekend
- Licensed or the ability to be licensed in: IA, MN, ND, SD, MT, WY, WI, NE KS and MO
- Ability to work at various heights
- Ability to lift items greater than 25lbs (and up to 150 lbs.) repetitively on a regular basis
- Ability to maintain a valid driver's license
- Must pass a physical exam, background check and pre-employment drug screening.
