The Role at a GlanceAs a Facilities Technician, you will work independently and within a team to ensure the efficient operation, maintenance and repair of two of the 4 technical skill areas; electrical systems, plumbing, control systems, and HVAC systems under the direction of the Senior Facilities Technician.
What you'll be doingTechnical and Preventive Maintenance
- Independently performing emergency repairs, preventive maintenance, installation and/or operation, projects and troubleshooting in assigned areas of responsibility, which may involve two of the four technical skill areas.
- Performing electronic/controls work including building automation systems, fire and security, energy management systems, monitoring systems, lighting controls, HVAC controls, sound systems, UPS and associated power equipment, and access control systems, etc.
- Performing electrical systems work including distribution systems, circuit wiring and terminations, central distribution gear, intermediate gear, breaker panels, lighting systems, high voltage transformers, emergency power generation equipment, motor control centers, power conditioning, etc.
- Performing plumbing work including hot water and steam boiler systems, steam and hydronic distribution systems, domestic water systems, chilled water plumbing, sanitary systems, pumping and injection systems, and fuel delivery systems.
- Performing HVAC systems work including the operation, maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and controls. This includes all air delivery systems, chillers, DX cooling systems, air handlers, evaporative cooling, cooling towers, heat exchangers and all associated control systems.
- Acting as project lead on small projects and/or assisting the senior technician on major projects.
- Independently performing service calls, troubleshooting and repairing systems as needed and handling emergency repairs in all skill areas.
- Checking work of less experienced team members.
- Performing general maintenance functions and backup in support of critical systems or projects.
- Participating as part of the on-call rotation.
- Demonstrating complex level of knowledge in the primary technical area required with a demonstrated skill resolving potentially high risk maintenance and building emergencies.
- Maitaining working knowledge of all other technical skill areas.
- Using of hand tools safely and effectively.
- Demonstrating knowledge and understanding of OSHA and general work place safety.
- Demonstrating willingness to be on-call and adjust shifts to meet emergencies and project requirements.
Educational
- High school diploma/GED
- Working knowledge in the use of basic software such as, Outlook, word processing, spreadsheets, procurement systems, and preventive maintenance programs
- Basic math and measurement skills
- 2-3 years of experience/training in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Control Systems
- Educational proficiency as the position requires completion or the equivalent experience of third or fourth year level of an apprenticeship in the primary technical skill area.
- Attendance of specialized training in two of the four technical skill areas: HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Control Systems.
- Must be able to walk, stand, or climb for a large portion of shift
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- A demonstrated track record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding performance expectations
- Possesses a bias for action and avoids workplace distractions
- Drives performance targets to completion
