Family Support Worker (Skill Builder) – Omaha Home for Boys

Omaha Home for Boys is seeking a compassionate and motivated Skill Builder to support individuals and families through trauma informed, community based services. In this role, you will work directly with clients in their homes, schools, and neighborhoods to help strengthen life skills, increase stability, and connect them with essential resources.
What You'll Do- Provide skill‑building services to individuals and families in home and community settings
- Assess family needs and support individualized goal planning
- Implement service plans developed in collaboration with the referral source and the service recipient
- Connect families to community resources and supportive services
- Provide transportation for clients as appropriate
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and case records
- Participate in family meetings and team collaboration
- Respond to and professionally manage crisis situations using de‑escalation skills
- Maintain professional boundaries and uphold trauma‑informed care principles
- Maintain a direct service caseload of approximately 25–32 hours per week
- Work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends
- Are passionate about empowering individuals and families

- Communicate well and build strong, supportive relationships

General
Hours:
Monday – Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm with evening and weekend hours as needed, depending on client needs. 40 hours weekly.
- Starting Wage: $18.00‑$20.00 per hour (based on experience)

- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Bachelor's degree in social work, Counseling, Human Services, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or related field
- OR Associate degree in a related field with 2+ years of experience working with children and families
- Experience in in‑home or community‑based services preferred
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, good driving record and current auto insurance
- Ability to pass an extensive background check and drug screening
- Strong communication, documentation, and time management skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team
- CPR and First Aid certification (offered at OHB during pre‑service if needed)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse populations
