Position SummaryThe Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) position is a full‑time, live‑in role that has primary responsibility for managing the daily operations of multiple apartment‑style residence halls within a residential area. Key functions include student staff selection, training, and supervision, student conduct adjudication, policy enforcement, student leadership development, and community building through programmatic efforts.
The RLC is expected to implement a student development approach and in all aspects of the position be guided by the core values of respect, education, care, and service. The RLC will work with and collaborate with the Senior Residence Life Coordinator (SRLC), Associate Director of Housing and Residence Life, Director of Housing & Residence Life, as well as other administrative staff.
Job Duties Supervision of Student Staff- Assist with the recruitment, hiring, and training of RA student staff members for the area.
- Supervise RA student staff in all facets of their positions and conduct regular one‑on‑one meetings for feedback and ongoing training.
- Assistance with the development and delivery of training at the outset of the fall and spring semesters for the student staff members within HRL.
- Serve in the on‑call duty rotation, assisting student paraprofessional staff members responding to students in crisis, facilities issues, or violations of the UNO Student Code of Conduct.
- Complete regular rounds of the assigned area with student staff, advise on procedures, and liaise with University Officials and on‑site emergency response personnel during crisis situations.
- Notify appropriate parties within Housing & Residence Life when emergency issues require additional intervention or follow‑up.
- Monitor the physical, mental, academic, and emotional health of residents in the area.
- Intervene in instances where residents may pose a threat to themselves or others and make appropriate referrals to agencies or specialists.
- Meet with students one‑on‑one, in pairs, or small groups to address emerging issues, investigate concerns, or mediate roommate conflicts.
- Receive training and certification for basic mediation skills and as a Health and Wellness Coach.
- Ensure appropriate follow‑up and support for all students following reports or documentation of concerns.
- Oversee all administrative tasks associated with daily management and building administration for the assigned area.
- Ensure para‑professional student staff complete administrative tasks appropriately.
- Conduct regular audits of rosters and administrative systems to ensure efficient operation of HRL processes.
- Manage administrative components of room moves and assist with major occupancy change processes during fall semester opening, year‑end move‑outs, and summer conference housing moves.
