Director - Software Engineering

National Indemnity Company, a Berkshire Hathaway group insurance company, seeks a Director of Software Engineering to lead multiple engineering managers and their Agile delivery teams within a large-scale enterprise technology organization. This leader will advance our cloud transformation, modernization, software delivery maturity, and AI-enabled engineering capabilities while fostering a collaborative engineering culture.

The position is based in Omaha, NE with a hybrid work environment (50% in office). This role is not eligible for employer visa sponsorship.

• Enable AI engineering and future technology strategy

• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience
• 10+ years related work experience in Software Engineering, including supervision of Managers
• Trusted thought leader who can influence business and IT leaders
• Strong understanding of software engineering delivery models, SDLC practices, and operational excellence principles
• Excellent communication, organizational leadership, and stakeholder management skills

• Experience with in insurance, financial services, healthcare, or other regulated industries
• Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud platform and cloud-native engineering practices
• Experience with Guidewire platforms or enterprise core systems modernization
• Advanced technical or business degree (MBA preferred)
