Its primary business involves the manufacture and placement of asphalt for roads, city streets and parking lots. Currently, OMNI Engineering employs around 200 employees and remains a competitive force in the Omaha market.
Position OverviewThe Lowboy Truck Driver is responsible for operating a truck and trailer for transportation of construction material and equipment. In this position, the Driver will load construction equipment (may include but are not limited to: front end loader, crusher equipment, fuel tanks, asphalt paver, asphalt mill, excavator, misc. oversized loads) onto trailer and transport to various construction sites.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)- Operates truck in a safe and professional manner on public highways, roads, in the yard area and at various job sites to deliver materials.
- Inspects equipment and truck as required at the start and end of each workday, completing the Driver Check-off Sheet which indicates that all systems are functioning properly.
- Checks fluid levels, tires, lights, and other controls for safe operation as well as monitoring gauges during operation of vehicle.
- Accurate logging of deliveries required as well as maintain required daily vehicle logs.
- Attaches and removes pup trailers, belly dump and side dump trailers, transfer trailers and tilt/transport trailers to truck as needed. Load and unload variety of equipment and/or materials in a safe and efficient manner.
- Keep truck in clean and working order, including basic maintenance. Including cleaning after loads or jobs as required.
- Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the supervisor.
- Properly follow all company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment. Report any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources.
- Must meet all eligibility requirements for driving a commercial motor vehicle in interstate commerce as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and the Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). with all Department of Transportation including but not limited to vehicle weight, licensing, vehicle inspection and hours of service.
- Assist in operating other DOT vehicles, operating equipment and with other departments as needed.

Education/Experience- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
- One to two years Class A CDL driving experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Total of 3 - 5 years of related tractor/trailer driving experience preferred.
- Must be 21 years in age or older.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
- Must have and maintain a valid class A Commercial Driver's License.
- Must have and maintain a valid DOT Medical Certificate.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Safety Manuals.
- Regular, on-time and consistent attendance is required and must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays and work away from home when required.
- Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA, Company Policy and specific Job Site Requirements.
- Ability to operate Class A Truck with Lowboy Trailer and various other types of heavy equipment that may include but not limited to Loader/Backhoe, Grader, Excavator, Crushing Equipment, Haul Truck and Asphalt Paving Equipment.
- Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently under a variety of working conditions.
- Ability to read and comprehend policies, instructions, site maps, city street maps and other GPS based equipment information.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as being able to work independently with attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate, understand and follow in both verbal and written instructions.
- Must be familiar with securing heavy equipment and other over dimensional loads.
- Able to communicate with others by email, telephone and in person. Able to utilize a computer, phone or tablet for typing, message, data management, timekeeping, and communicating by voice or text.
