Position: Truck Driver, CDL A (part time)

Position Summary

Schedule:

Part‑time role with flexibility Monday, Tuesday, Saturday2:00 AM – 12:00 PM. This role is responsible for safely driving a commercial truck on a designated route to deliver product to a series of customers, assisting with unloading, completing delivery confirmations and necessary paperwork, performing routine vehicle inspections, and maintaining DOT compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Safely drive a commercial truck with trailer(s) on the designated route to deliver products according to the delivery schedule and all current DOT rules and regulations, including out‑of‑town deliveries.
  • Maintain DOT drivers logbook or electronic logging device (onboard computer) and all other delivery documentation.
  • Assist in unloading truck/trailers at each delivery location, verify correct products are delivered, and obtain delivery confirmation and customer signatures.
  • Inform management of any deviations, invoice discrepancies, damaged goods, or customer returns; complete all necessary paperwork and attach relevant documents.
  • Report unsafe unloading conditions at delivery locations to dispatcher/supervisor.
  • Perform pre‑post trip inspections on the vehicle before every run to ensure all mechanical, safety, and emergency components are in working condition and in compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Conduct pre‑trip duties: review driver itinerary, check route details, verify customer invoices, move tractors to the loading dock to attach preloaded trailers, and maintain required trailer temperature.
  • Conduct post‑trip duties: unload damaged or returned products, unhook and secure the trailer, refill fuel, park and secure the tractor and hand truck, complete DOT logs, and reconcile records with the appropriate company representative.
  • Perform simple vehicle maintenance such as cleaning interiors and exteriors, taking the vehicle for state inspections, filling tires with air, and reporting damage or repair requirements.
  • Provide quality customer service at every delivery location; note and report schedule or service complaints to dispatcher/supervisor for resolution.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED (preferred).
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (required).
  • Minimum six months or at least 50,000 miles of all‑season commercial driving experience (required).
  • Must pass DOT physical examination and DOT pre‑employment drug test; subject to periodic random alcohol and drug testing.
  • Must be able to work up to 60 hours per week, including nights and weekends.
  • Good communication skills: ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and attention to detail skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to read maps, route schedules, and operate vehicles in various traffic and weather conditions.
  • Knowledge of federal regulations and DOT guidelines.
  • Flexible working in shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to work safely and prevent injury to self and others while driving, loading, and unloading vehicles.
  • Ability to operate GPS and Electronic On‑Board Recorders to communicate with dispatch.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Ability to travel overnight on occasion.
Physical Requirements
  • Lifting and/or moving up to 100 pounds frequently during loading and unloading (average case weight 18.7 pounds; 83% of cases are less than 30 pounds).
  • Push and pull loaded pallets and carts weighing up to 2,700 pounds.
  • Sit for up to eleven hours per day and climb in and out of tractor and trailer often.
  • Overnight travel may be required.
  • Exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including extreme weather during load/unload.
  • Work environment noise level is usually low to moderate, occasionally moderate to high.
