Logistics Coordinator

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for managing and optimizing day-to-day logistics operations, ensuring the efficient movement of freight between facilities, ports, rail yards, warehouses, and customer locations. This role requires strong coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills to ensure timely deliveries, compliance with regulations, and high customer satisfaction in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service levels across drayage, rail, and OTR operations
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process gaps and recommending solutions across logistics functions
  • Coordinate and schedule shipments, including pickups and deliveries
  • Dispatch drivers and manage daily load assignments to ensure on-time performance
  • Track and monitor shipments using TMS and port/rail systems (e.g., EDI, terminal portals)
  • Communicate with drivers, steamship lines, terminal operators, and customers to provide real-time updates
  • Manage appointment scheduling at terminals and warehouses
  • Troubleshoot delays, including port congestion, equipment shortages, or traffic issues
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments, costs, and delivery statuses
  • Assist with invoicing, rate confirmation, and cost controls
  • Monitor KPIs such as on-time delivery, turn times, and driver utilization
  • Provide cross-functional support during peak volumes, capacity shortages, or service disruptions across drayage, rail, and OTR divisions
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, or related field preferred

2+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, or drayage operations preferred

Skills & Competencies

Excellent communication and coordination skills

Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook)

Time management and prioritization skills

Customer service mindset
