Position: Full-time Special Education Paraprofessionals

Overview

The School District of Onalaska is accepting applications for full‑time special education paraprofessionals beginning with the 2026-27 school year. Paraprofessionals are assigned by the building administrator to various assignments that may differ by school, and they support students in both general and special education programming as needed.

Assignments and Hours

Current openings are at high school, middle school, Eagle Bluff, and Irving Pertsch. Typical hours at secondary schools are 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.; at elementary schools 7:45 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.

Additional Work Information

No nights or weekends; school day only. Summer school work is available for those interested.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of two years (48 credits) of post–high‑school education, or an associate degree preferred.
  • Applicants who have not completed two years post–high school must have passed the Para Pro Assessment or designated Work Keys Assessments before employment; the Work Keys Assessment is paid for by the district if selected for employment.
  • Include a cover letter addressed to Sonya Ganther, HR Director, along with a resume and transcripts that demonstrate the required educational attainment.
