Position: Medical Support Specialist (EMT, AEMT, EMTI)

Job Description

The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) will support plasma center operations, determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable results. They will work under the guidance of the Center Manager, Assistant Manager, and Center Physician, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and providing environmental, health and safety support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
  • Evaluate donor reactions; follow SOPs for medical emergencies, develop physician standing orders, and manage donor transport to emergency care facilities.
  • Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when clinical or technical guidance is required.
  • Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
  • Manage employee incidents and coordinate further evaluation as needed.
  • Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support investigations of pandemic threats.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or recognized nursing program with state requirements.
  • Licensed or certified in the state of assignment (e.g., EMT‑Paramedic).
  • Current CPR and AED certification.
  • Fulfillment of state IV therapy requirements.
  • Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
  • Minimum of two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Compensation

U.S. hourly wage range: $24.32 – $33.44. Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, disability coverage, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time, holidays, well‑being benefits, up to 80 sick hours per year, and up to 120 paid vacation hours for new hires.
