JOB OVERVIEW

The School District of Onalaska is seeking a passionate, community‑minded Family‑School Liaison. This role is to bridge the gap between home and school, connecting families with vital resources to help students thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.

SCHEDULE AND WORK ARRANGEMENT

190‑day contract with built‑in flexibility for some summer hours and school‑year breaks. While designed as a full‑time role, the district is open to a job‑share arrangement for two qualified part‑time applicants.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure families are supported by connecting them to vital resources.
  • Maintain established community connections while practicing cultural competence, humility, and a social justice‑mindded approach.
  • Engage effectively with students, families, and community members from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills and active listening across all interactions with staff, students, parents, and the public.
  • Utilize a deep, comprehensive knowledge of available community resources to actively assist families.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Work flexible hours to meet family needs and administration requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Background in social work (or a related field) required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field required.
  • Possess (or be able to obtain) a professional license that reflects dedication to supporting families and children (preferred).
  • Understanding of how school systems, community services, and family dynamics intersect.
  • Strong cultural humility and commitment to social justice.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and active listening.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of community resources.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours.
