Nuclear Medical Technician - Nuclear Med Technician

Job Details:

• Monday through Friday schedule, 8-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM

• No call responsibilities

• Must be able to work independently and be comfortable working in both Nuclear Medicine and PET modalities

• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using radiopharmaceuticals

• Follow protocols to perform Nuclear Medicine and PET scans in a safe manner

• Determine appropriate dosage and type of radionuclide necessary for exam completion under radiologist guidance

• Order, prepare, administer, and measure radioactive isotopes in therapeutic, diagnostic, and tracer studies

• Properly receive, store, and dispose of radioactive materials according to NYS Sanitary Code instructions

• Prepare stock solutions of radioactive materials and calculate dosages

• Administer radiopharmaceuticals orally, intravenously, or intradermally

• Detect and map radiopharmaceuticals in patients' bodies producing computer images

• Calculate, measure, and record radiation dosage of radionuclides

• Maintain exposure levels as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) for technologist and patients

• Monitor patient well-being during exams and take appropriate action when needed

• Provide exceptional customer service and patient education throughout procedures

• Maintain accurate records and documentation

• Operate equipment consistent with standard usage guidelines and techniques

• Maintain safe and appropriate work area and inventory of supplies

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Graduate of an AMA school of Nuclear Medicine required

• Certified as Nuclear Medicine Technologist (ARRT or CNMT) or board eligible required

• New York License required

• Minimum 2 years of Nuclear Medicine experience required

• Must have experience working independently and upholding NYS compliance/regulations
