Position: Adjunct Assistant Professor, ITE (Database & Data Analysis)

Job Description Summary

Each part‑time faculty member reports to a chair or director, satisfies criteria for accreditation, possesses subject matter expertise, and has the following instructional and institutional responsibilities:

  • Designing courses, delivering instruction, evaluating student learning, and incorporating college‑required technology.
  • Possessing subject matter expertise and engaging in ongoing professional development.
  • Maintaining effective communication within the College and the department or program.

Salary is determined per the SF Salary Schedule.

Program Context

The Information Technology Education (ITE) prepares students for careers in computer programming, network administration, computer support, and other technical occupations. The ITE Program offers eight certificate programs, four Associate of Science degrees, and one Bachelor of Applied Science degree. The department seeks an onsite Adjunct Assistant Professor, Programming, Database and Analysis.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Plan, organize, and deliver information technology education instruction in didactic, laboratory, or classroom settings to promote student success within a community college setting.
  • Support and promote the college and departmental missions centered on excellence in teaching and learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and service.
  • Collaborate with department chair, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum to cultivate mastery of course content.
  • Provide students with frequent, timely assessment and clear feedback regarding academic performance.
  • Appropriately document student progress and maintain accurate records such as attendance, grading, and achievement of student learning outcomes.
  • Honor student confidentiality and privacy as per applicable laws, regulations, and college rules.
  • Develop methods that fairly and accurately assess students' progress in achieving the stated learning outcomes/objectives.
  • Maintain appropriate office hours proportionate to the instructional assignment.
  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum:
    Master’s degree in a qualifying field, or Master’s with at least 18 graduate semester hours, or AA/AS degree with at least 18 semester hours and 3‑5 years of progressive work experience in a qualifying field.
  • Preferred:
    Master’s degree with demonstrated proficiency or related experience in Information Technology and related fields.
Qualifying Fields
  • Computer Science or Information Technology majors:
    Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Information Technology, Computer Science & Technology, Information Security, Information Security Management, Information Systems, Programming and Analysis, Security Management, Technology Management.
  • Alternative majors:
    Business Administration, Business Management, Computer Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Decision & Information Technology, Education in Learning, Educational Technology, Information Assurance, Internet Services, Technology & Communication.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Mastery of software:
    Visual Studio, Idle, Eclipse, Git, Microsoft Project.
  • Programming languages: SQL, Python, Java, C/C++, C#.
  • Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Database systems: SQL Server, MySQL, SQLite.
  • Containerization:
    Kubernetes, Docker.
General Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

The Adjunct Assistant must be able to deliver high‑level interactive customer service, develop and maintain collaborative relationships, communicate effectively, and possess proficient computer skills including familiarity with the Microsoft Suite of Office Applications. The successful applicant must be willing to work a flexible schedule at multiple sites and demonstrate the ability to work well with students, faculty, and staff in a diverse environment.
