School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

Location: Oneonta, AL (Blount County Schools)

Compensation: $36.00 / Hour

Job Type: Part-Time (Contract/Flexible)

Job Summary

We are looking for a community-minded Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our educational team in Oneonta. This part-time position is ideal for a clinician who enjoys the school environment and wants to make a tangible difference in students' communicative and academic success. You will manage a diverse caseload, providing essential therapy and advocacy for children within the Blount County school system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Targeted Intervention: Deliver direct speech and language therapy to students (Pre-K through 12) with a focus on articulation, fluency, voice, and expressive/receptive language disorders.
  • IEP Leadership: Participate in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), setting realistic, academically-aligned goals for each student.
  • Evaluation & Eligibility: Conduct standardized screenings and comprehensive diagnostic evaluations to determine student eligibility for special education services.
  • Team

    Collaboration:

    Work alongside classroom teachers, psychologists, and parents to integrate communication strategies into the student's daily learning environment.
  • Compliance Documentation: Use Alabama-specific software (such as SETS) to maintain accurate service logs, progress reports, and evaluation summaries in accordance with state and federal IDEA mandates.
  • Hearing & Vision Screenings: Assist with school-wide screenings to identify potential barriers to learning early in the school year.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Licensure:
    * Current Alabama State License from the Alabama Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (ABESPA).
    • Valid ALSDE Professional Educator Certificate (Class

      A).
  • Education: Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an ASHA-accredited program.
  • Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) is required; however, exceptional Clinical Fellows (CFY) may be considered with established supervision plans.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Proficiency in electronic documentation and an understanding of Alabama Special Education rules and regulations.
  • Background Check: Successful completion of the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) fingerprinting and criminal background check.
