Med Surg RN Opportunity
A facility in Oneonta, NY is looking for a Med Surg RN with at least one year of med surg RN experience. The position will be in the facility's Observation room. ACLS and BLS required. Patients are ones who come in that are anticipated to be discharged within two midnights. They are typically alert, oriented, and require minimal to no assistance with their ADLs.
Simple joint post ops, chest pain work-up, abdominal pain, etc. Patients are typically of lower acuity. Higher acuity patients are transferred to the med surg unit as quickly as possible. Although they are relatively as whole lower in acuity and more independent they do sometimes still require knowledge base on basic gtts like heparin gtt, insulin gtt, Lasix gtt, Cardizem gtt, etc.
They have a telemetry tech that will monitor all the inpatient and OBS telemetry, however, the nurse should be able to identify when something is not right and notify the provider. Travel experience preferred. Caregivers cannot be from Otsego county. Caregivers are expected to make up any missed shifts within the same pay period or following pay period, with the exception of mandated medical quarantine or at manager's discretion.
Two or more missed shifts will result in termination. Possibility to float to another facility on occasion.
