Role: Client Accountant

Salary: $75,000 - 85,000
Location: Chicago, IL (THIS IS AN ONSITE ROLE IN CHICAGO, IL. THERE ARE WFH OPPORTUNITIES AFTER 6 MONTHS)

Who we are looking for:

An accounting professional with customer service experience. You understand how best to schedule your day and can reprioritize based on incoming requests. You are organized, efficient and can multi-task in a sometimes‑hectic environment. You can switch seamlessly between a phone call, a client walk‑in, and a time‑sensitive task. You work well under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.

The Job:

The Client Accountant provides excellent customer service both internally with team members and externally with clients (portfolio of condominium associations) and vendors. The Client Accountant is responsible for completing a wide variety of accounting, customer service, administrative, and other project and support‑related tasks and will report directly to the Director of Accounting.

Your main roles will include (but not be limited to):

  • Assist with transactional accounting for client associations
  • Month‑end close process and reporting for client associations
  • Oversee & assist with AP & AR for client associations
  • Oversight of administrative and accounting department employees
  • Oversight of client association banking needs & transactions
  • Assist with the preparation of consolidated financials for client associations
  • Assist with budgeting, financial planning, and cash management for client associations
  • Documentation of internal controls, policies, and procedures for audit
  • Assist auditors with PBC request list for external auditors for client associations
  • Customer and vendor management
  • Assist with the preparation and reconciliation of payroll, payroll tax, and benefits for client associations
  • Perform additional functions and participate in special projects as needed

What you have (the basics):

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting; CPA or MBA a plus
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience obtained through increasingly responsible positions within the accounting and finance function, some public accounting experience is preferred
  • Excellent GAAP accounting knowledge and consolidated financial statement preparation.
  • Experience developing cash forecasts, and financial and operating metrics
  • An ability to manage complex accounting and reporting systems and processes
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to connect business actions with financial outcomes
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, knowledge of automated financial and reporting systems, Microsoft Office products, and other tools commonly used by accounting and finance teams
  • Experience using Net Suite, Quick Books, Ramp,  and/or Buildium is a plus
